Job Description Summary
The Services Design Engineering Technical Leader (TL) will be responsible for technical direction and ownership of projects in all ITR stages providing CM&U (changes, modifications, and uprates) of accessory equipment for heavy-duty gas turbines. Primary responsibilities include development and application of technical engineering designs through the CM&U process of units past commercial operation date (COD), technical support for testing, manufacturing, commissioning, and operation. The individual is expected to be a single point of contact for all accessories system design reviews and technical sign-off on engineering deliverables before release to internal or external customers. They shall also help manage project risk and expedite issue resolution especially during site outages. The selected individual will also be responsible for delivering best in class customer outcomes by developing great working relationship with different P&L leaders, other engineering functions, Global CTH community, Operations, PMO, Commercial/Sales, FieldCore, Sourcing and Quality teams.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Guide and mentor other accessories engineers in the team when executing CM&U projects using sound engineering judgements, proven best practices/lessons learned, engineering analysis/optimization techniques, etc. while adhering to business level CTQs/Standards and project specific requirements.
- Identify, develop, evaluate, and introduce engineering solutions to meet near term and long-range engineering solutions on Services Accessories Fluid and Mechanical systems such as Fuel Gas, Liquid Fuel, Purge, AA, Water injection, Water Wash, Exhaust System, etc.
- Perform and guide others to perform engineering calculations and analyses to size system components (such as valves, pumps, motors, blowers, compressors etc.).
- Responsible to successfully deploy engineering tools such as AUTOPIPE, FLOINHANCE/FLOSIMULATOR, ANSYS (CFD & FEA), STADD, HYSYS etc. as a part of ITR efforts & also provide necessary guidance/training to others within the team.
- Provide technical leadership and act as the single point of contact for customer issue resolution (ER, NCR, Safety cases, etc.) while meeting critical business metrics on quality, timeliness, productivity & driving communication across key stakeholders and/or cross functional teams.
- Lead efforts and energize peers to develop intellectual property (IP) to protect company assets.
- Estimate project implementation cycles for developing and applying new and innovative equipment designs to support emerging business needs and market demands. Design next generation products by optimizing trades between performance, cost, and reliability.
- Own and lead key business initiatives (such as LEAN, Kaizen, Continuous Improvement, P2V, etc.) to eliminate waste, drive productivity and quality.
- Identify and mitigate CM&U project risk by reviewing project specials and first of its kind or NPI scope.
- Work closely with cross functional CTH community and leverage/share lessons learned for benefit of all global accessories communities.
- Work with cross-functional teams (such as Sourcing, Product Services, FieldCore etc.) to improve or resolve supplier/site issues and help reduce Cost of Poor Quality(CoPQ) incursion during installation/commissioning.
- Visit gas turbine power plant sites for customer coordination and resolution of emergent field issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree Mechanical, Chemical, Structural, or related engineering field from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 8 years of experience in Design Engineering/Services Accessories)

- Awareness of design practices and Accessories policies & procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated leadership in defining the state of the art in Accessories Fluid and Mechanical design, along with the ability to teach and set standard practices within this field.
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
