Job Description

CurbWaste is a venture-backed, early-stage vertical SaaS company on a mission to modernize the waste and recycling industry — one of the most critical and underserved sectors in the world. Our customers are hard-working, no-frills operators running complex businesses with limited tools. We’re here to change that.

With $50M raised and the backing of top-tier investors, we serve over 150 customers who rely on CurbWaste’s all-in-one solution to power their operations. But we’re just getting started. Our ambition is to become the system of record for the waste industry and support the people who keep our cities running.

At CurbWaste, we hold a high bar. We believe in trust, ownership, and a relentless focus on delivering value. We challenge each other to grow every day and live by values that shape how we show up:

  • Serve our customers, serve our industry
  • Be infinitely curious
  • Resourcefulness over resources
  • Win as a team, learn as a team
  • Do the 1% more

We’re building something meaningful — and we’re looking for big thinkers and humble warriors to join us.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're hiring a Technical Product Designer to join a small, high-impact design team. This is a Product Design role first — you'll own real feature work end to end, from concept through shipped experience. What makes it different: you're comfortable enough with front-end code (React, component-based systems) to partner directly with engineering on our design system, and help contribute to our “design-to-code” workflows.

You won't be asked to ship production features solo — you'll be a design-side technical partner who helps close the gap between what we design and what we build.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own product design work for one of our Pod’s — partnering with Product and Engineering on discovery, concepting, prototyping, and testing.
  • Help strengthen and extend our design system alongside another designer, including contributing directly by designing and potentially implementing components where useful.
  • Pair with Head of Design to explore design infrastructure that makes it easier for Design, Product, and Engineering to stay in sync (e.g., AI-enabled design workflows, design-to-code processes)
  • Help set up the Design team to pick up frontend-adjacent work that often falls between design and engineering — polish, small UI fixes that rarely get prioritized, prototyping in code.
  • Participate in customer calls and research alongside the rest of the Design team.

Requirements

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 3+ years as a product/UX designer or design engineer, with a portfolio showing real shipped product work, not just concepts.
  • Comfortable reading and writing basic front-end code (HTML/CSS/JS or React) — enough to prototype, contribute to a design system, or have a real conversation with engineers about implementation.
  • Strong craft fundamentals: interaction design, visual design, and the judgment to know when detail matters and when it doesn't.
  • Self-sufficient and comfortable in a small team where you'll wear a few hats.
  • Experience working directly with a design system or component library team.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience with AI-assisted design/developer tooling (i.e. MCPs, design-harnesses, etc.).
  • Experience at a B2B SaaS or vertical software company.
  • Experience with customer or user research

Benefits

  • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
  • Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
  • Training & Development
  • Work From Home
  • Free Food & Snacks
