DESCRIPTION:

The Technical Business Development Manager is an important hybrid leader who blends deep technical and product knowledge with sales strategy, by bridging the gap between complex chemistry, production and customer needs. They will support our consultative sales strategy and reinforce our Core Values, which are a key source of the company"s competitive advantage.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable with searching for opportunities and 'cold calling'. Candidates with experience selling specialty chemicals and toll/contract manufacturing capability is a plus.

The Technical BDM leads initiatives aimed at acquiring new customers and expanding in target markets. This role is pivotal in driving growth strategy by identifying new opportunities, building strong partner relationships, and delivering customized solutions that meet customer needs. The Technical Sales Manager reports directly to the Sales Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

New Business Development: Proactively identify, research, and target new business opportunities across key markets and industries. Develop and execute innovative strategies to open new revenue streams for businesses. Sales Strategy: Execute plans, opportunity pipelines, forecast and negotiations. Build relationships with prospective clients to understand their needs, challenges, and objectives. Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activities, and market shifts to identify areas of growth. Internal / External Customer Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, production, and operations, to align solutions with customer needs. Deliver tailored presentations, demos, proposals serving as the primary technical contact during the production planning, sales cycle and customer operations. Relay feedback from customer and vendor to the organization. Technical Leadership / Coordination: Educate internal organization on complex product specifications and functionality as well as execute with the Technical Process Engineer in current and future on-shoring production opportunities. Support departments with technical consultation and direction on Technical Specifications, Regulatory Requirements, and all touch points for both HAZ and NON HAZ products including requirements around production, handling, labeling, and shipping. New Vendor Engagement: Manage evaluation of new relationships, audits that support our commitment to Core Values, Distribution Guiding Principles and requirements to meet our 3rd party audit of ACD (Alliance of Chemical Distributors) Outside Vendors: Evaluate and consult with outside vendors on technical requirements that meet our specifications.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Technical degree5+ years of proven success in business development, sales, technical service, or account management, in chemical sectors.Experience working in a chemical production environment with hands-on experience in hazardous and non-hazardous chemical products, including concept commercialization to execution, compliance with regulatory requirements for manufacturing, handling, labeling, and transportation.Quality systems management/ISO
