Introduction
We are seeking a User Experience (UX) Designer to join our team in Beaverton, OR. This role involves working on innovative mobile and hardware-connected experiences, enhancing user interactions, and driving the vision for digital products.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Visual Design, or related field
- 7 years of experience designing mobile apps, ideally for hardware products
- Proven track record of leading end-to-end design for consumer-facing digital products
- Expertise in design tools like Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping platforms
- Experience collaborating with engineering and QA teams in Agile environments
- Strong portfolio demonstrating mobile app design, hardware-connected experiences, and design system work
- Deep understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) and inclusive design
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and facilitation skills
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and drive clarity through organized, actionable design steps
- Experience with app creation for wearables in workout/sports (e.g., Fitbit, Peloton, smartwatch)
- Experience with hardware/app creation for products like Alexa, Google Nest, or Ring
- Comfortable presenting and facilitating discussions with senior leadership
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Design user interfaces and interactions for mobile apps (iOS and Android) and connected hardware experiences
- Translate research insights and product requirements into wireframes, prototypes, and polished designs
- Collaborate with engineers, QA, and product managers to ensure feasibility and quality throughout the development lifecycle
- Partner with UX Research to iterate designs based on user feedback and testing
- Maintain and evolve design systems and documentation for cohesive, inclusive experiences across all touchpoints
- Champion accessibility and usability design principles
- Support operational planning and delivery of long-term initiatives
- Present design strategy and rationale to senior leadership and cross-functional teams
