The Lake County Weeds Department is currently seeking applications for:
Rush Skeletonweed Strike Team Member
The successful applicant for this position will work outdoors daily in all types of weather conditions. This position will assist in planning and implementation of a coordinated program for the prevention, containment, suppression and, where possible, eradication of Rush Skeletonweed in Lake County.
In this position, you can expect to be outside every day in all kinds of weather conditions. You can also expect to get dirty! You will be trained on and assigned specific Personal Protective Equipment to ensure your safety while performing your duties. This job will require you to operate on and off-road vehicles throughout Lake County. You will mix chemicals to specifications and then apply the chemicals using a pesticide applicator. Locate, map, and treat Rush Skeletonweed in Lake County and potentially surrounding counties. Successful applicants will be in contact with landowners and land managers to keep them informed about the project. Daily logs of activities will be required as well as maintenance of equipment. You can be sure that there will be public interaction daily in which excellent customer service is expected.
Qualified applicants must be at least 18-years old, possess a Montana Driver License, must be able to work outdoors in all conditions performing physical labor, and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.Must attendpreseason in-house training and Western Area Weed Council annual crew training in May. Potential trainings with other strike teams are pending.
Successful applicants may be able to use this experience as an internship. This must be discussed with the District Coordinator beforehand.
HOURS/DAYS: 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m./M-Thu; This is a temporary position. A typical season usually runs from early May to late August
WAGE: $16.75/hourly
