Job Description
Lyten is leading an industrial revolution through Lyten 3D Graphene™, a breakthrough supermaterial unlocking a new generation of products — from lithium–sulfur batteries and energy storage systems to concrete admixtures, lightweight composites, and next-generation sensors that are revolutionizing industries. Together, these innovations are making a massive global improvement and driving real-world impact across energy, mobility, construction, and defense.
At Lyten, we believe the most meaningful careers begin with purpose — and with people who want to make a difference. We’re not just developing advanced supermaterials — we’re about to change the world as we know it, reshaping how energy is stored, how products are built, and how progress is made.
We’re entering an exciting growth phase, scaling production across the U.S. and Europe and expanding our team of engineers, scientists, and innovators.
Apply now to join our team and be part of something bigger than yourself — where collaboration, creativity, and purpose come together to build the technologies that will define the next century.
Responsibilities:
- Cell test setup – Placing new cells or packs onto test channels, including documenting beginning-of-life cell data, connections to thermocouples and tester voltage/current connectors, and recording and maintaining cell testing locations.
- Cell test takedown – Removing end-of-life or failed cells or packs from test channels and documenting end-of-life test data using Lyten cell information database systems. Assist test engineers in mapping and recording cell locations and states and hand-off of cells to failure analysis and characterization engineers.
- Abuse testing setup and takedown – Work directly with test engineers in setting up and taking down abuse tests of cells and packs on a variety of abuse testing machines. This includes connecting cells to voltage, current, and thermocouple leads, as well as setting up video/imaging setups.
- Assist in unpacking and intake of Lyten and Northvolt produced pouch, coin, and prismatic cells from our various manufacturing sites.
- Inventory management – Assist in maintaining a highly organized inventory of cells and packs, ensuring routine disposal of end-of-life cells.
- Laboratory upkeep – Keep a clean and safe workspace and help optimize test engineering processes.
- Documentation - Document results, collect data, and assist in compiling reports to provide to engineers and VP of Performance and Reliability.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOP) but communicate ideas/areas for SOP improvement and implementation.
- Continuous Learning – Stay updated with the latest best practices, tools, and technologies related to battery testing.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of practical laboratory experience, ideally including the testing of lithium-ion or other battery cell technologies in coin, cylindrical, prismatic, or pouch cell formats.
- Experience using battery cycler equipment like Maccor, Arbin, Gamry, BioLogic, etc.
- Basic knowledge of pouch, coin cell, cylindrical, or prismatic cells.
