Test Technician
Location: Wallingford, CTType: 3 month Contract-to-Hire Openings:
- 1st Shift (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM): 2 Technicians
- 2nd Shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM): 2 Technicians
- 3rd Shift (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM): 1 Technician
Pay:
- Contract: $22.00/hr
- Upon Permanent Hire: $23.00–$24.00/hr
Shift Differentials
Contract Employees:
- 2nd Shift: None
- 3rd Shift: +$3.00/hr
Upon Permanent Hire:
- 2nd Shift: +$3.00/hr
- 3rd Shift: +$4.50/hr plus an additional $150 biweekly shift differential.
Benefits: Optional cafeteria-style benefits available for contractors. Once hired permanently, company pays approximately 95% of employee benefits.

Position Overview
We are seeking experienced OIS Test Technicians to join our team in Wallingford, CT. This position is responsible for testing, diagnosing, and troubleshooting printed circuit boards (PCBs), fiber optic products, and electronic assemblies to ensure they meet quality and performance standards. The ideal candidate has strong electronics troubleshooting skills, enjoys solving technical problems, and thrives in a precision manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate test equipment to perform functional, in-circuit, and environmental testing on PCBs and electronic assemblies.
- Interpret and follow test procedures, schematics, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and electronic failures to the component level using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment.
- Document test results, failure analysis, corrective actions, and quality records.
- Assist in developing and improving testing processes to increase efficiency and product quality.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, ISO requirements, and safety procedures.
- Maintain an organized and safe work environment while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience testing, diagnosing, and troubleshooting PCBs or electronic assemblies.
- Associate degree or equivalent technical certification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficient with oscilloscopes, multimeters, electronic test equipment, and diagnostic tools.
- Strong understanding of electronic components, schematics, and PCB layouts.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with RF and/or fiber optic testing is a plus.
- Familiarity with IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 standards is preferred.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Basic measurement skills using both standard and metric systems.
- Strong reasoning, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Good manual dexterity and excellent attention to detail.
- Must be ITAR compliant.
- Highly dependable with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and team-oriented mindset.
