Job Description
The Good Samaritan Home of Quincy is looking for a Therapy Aide to join our growing team!
Job Summary: The primary purpose of your job position is to lead the aquatic classes, perform exercise programs as established by licensed therapy staff and assist therapy staff as needed.
Full-time- Day-shift- Monday- Friday
Pay Range: $17.22 - $19.22/hr.- Bi-weekly pay

Responsibilities
- Lead aquatic exercises classes at times scheduled.
- Be responsible, along with the Rehab Unit Secretary, the receiving of payment from pool participants, logging in of said payments, and placing current card in sign-in book.
- Be responsible, along with the Rehab Unit Secretary, of keeping doctor permission slips updated yearly.
- Be responsible, along with the Rehab Unit Secretary, of doing daily chemical checks of pool.
- Demonstrate knowledge of performance of daily chemical and temperature checks of pool.
- Demonstrate knowledge of procedure for the addition of chemicals as needed.
- Demonstrate knowledge/education of the determination of chemical adjustments needed to pool based on daily chemical checks.
- Demonstrate knowledge of procedure of contact of support personnel for problems and/or concerns with pool.
- Demonstrate knowledge of procedure for the addition of water to pool as needed based on daily level checks.
- Be responsible for reporting directly to the Rehab Unit Secretary any problems or concerns voiced from pool participants and or other staff.
- Observe safety precautions in the performance of all procedures used in the therapy department.
- Communicate to Rehab Unit Secretary and licensed therapy staff any problems or concerns with resident’s progress or lack of progress in established programs.
- Demonstrate the knowledge of flexibility needed in daily routine to best meet the needs of the residents to enable them to participate in established programs.
- Communicate observations, facts, concerns, comments, etc. with Rehab Unit Secretary and licensed therapy staff to ensure efficient coordination of the overall care plan.
- Maintain departments policies, procedures, objectives, safety, quality assurance, infection control, and environmental.
- Assist in the care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
- Attend meetings as required and participate on committees as directed.
- Enhance personal and professional growth and development through participation in current educational literature and in-service training.
- Do all other duties assigned by your immediate supervisor.
Qualifications
- Must possess a high school diploma.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language.
- Must be able to write the English language in a legible and understandable manner.
- Must possess the ability to deal harmoniously with staff, residents, family, visitors, government personnel, public, etc.
- Must have experience working in geriatric setting.
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.
- Must have the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action in a timely fashion.
- Must possess the ability to carry out exercise programs and aquatic programs.
- Must be willing to handle residents on whatever maturity level in which they are currently functioning.
- Must possess the ability to communicate problems/concerns with licensed staff. Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a medical and physical examination.
