The Senior Manager, Parcel Logistics is responsible for leading, optimizing, and scaling the company's parcel transportation and last-mile delivery network. This strategic leader owns a multi-million-dollar parcel transportation budget, manages carrier partnerships, drives network optimization initiatives, and leads technology solutions that improve service, efficiency and customer experience. The ideal candidate combines deep parcel logistics expertise with strong analytical, financial, and leadership capabilities to develop and execute transportation strategies that balance cost, capacity, operational performance, and customer expectations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead contract negotiations with national parcel carriers (FedEx, UPS, USPS) and regional last-mile providers to secure competitive pricing, service levels, and network capacity.
  • Develop and maintain a diversified carrier strategy to mitigate risk, improve flexibility, and support peak-season demand.
  • Monitor carrier performance and compliance with established service-level agreements (SLAs), conduct regular business reviews and corrective action planning as needed.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for major delivery disruptions, carrier performance issues, customs delays, and systemic tracking challenges.
  • Manage the annual parcel logistics budget and identify opportunities to improve transportation efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Conduct cost-to-serve analyses and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the parcel network.
  • Optimize shipping strategies through zone-skipping, parcel injection, postal consolidation, and other network design initiatives.
  • Oversee freight audit and payment processes to ensure billing accuracy, financial compliance, and cost recovery.
  • Lead the implementation and optimization of Transportation Management Systems (TMS), multi-carrier shipping platforms, and shipment visibility solutions.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to measure key performance indicators (KPIs), including:

o On-time delivery (OTD)

o Cost per package

o Transit time

o Damage claims

o Customer delivery satisfaction

  • Utilize data analytics and forecasting tools to evaluate network changes, predict volume fluctuations, and optimize fulfillment center routing and carrier selection.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of logistics analysts and coordinators, while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with E-commerce, Customer Service, Procurement, Finance, and Warehouse Operations teams to align logistics capabilities with business objectives.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership regarding transportation performance, capacity planning, and optimization opportunities.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in parcel transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations, including leadership responsibility. Proven experience managing parcel carrier relationships, contract negotiations, and transportation budgets.
  • Strong understanding of parcel network design, last-mile delivery operations, and carrier performance management.
  • Experience with TMS platforms, parcel shipping software, business intelligence tools, and logistics analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data, identify opportunities, and execute strategic improvements.

An employee in this position can expect an annual salary between $155,000 - $175,000 depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law.
