Position level will be determined based on experience and skills.

The Maintenance Technician performs a variety of maintenance duties including, but not limited to, diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining facility systems and material handling equipment. This includes conveyor equipment, motors, gear reducers, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, dock equipment, and other systems critical to warehouse operations. Maintenance Technicians are responsible for ensuring the facility and machinery operate efficiently with minimal downtime and maximum safety.

Maintenance Technicians must be able to work independently, partner with other departments, and assist in training fellow team members and Maintenance Assistants.

What You Do

  • Work as a team member to resolve repair functions in a safe and timely manner
  • Perform minor to advanced repairs and adjustments to equipment and facilities as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or Lead Technician
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on a scheduled basis, including lubrication, inspections, belt and roller replacements, and filter changes, to minimize equipment breakdowns
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues on a wide range of warehouse systems (mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical)
  • Maintain, inspect, and repair conveyor systems, dock levelers, air compressors, battery charging equipment, and light fixtures
  • Assist with facility upkeep: assembling/moving furniture, changing light bulbs, basic painting, and hardware mounting to ensure a clean and presentable work environment
  • Operate and maintain floor scrubbers, compactors, balers, battery changers, and powered industrial trucks
  • Respond to and complete maintenance work orders through internal reporting systems
  • Use ladders, man lifts, forklifts, and carts to access work areas while following all safety procedures
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation for PMs, repairs, and parts used in assigned zones
  • Collaborate with warehouse operations to support process improvements and minimize downtime
  • Perform general housekeeping and cleanup tasks as assigned
  • Practice safe work habits, adhere to all safety policies, and wear appropriate PPE

Knowledge & Experience

Required for All Levels:

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing; follow directions with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working around moving machinery
  • Familiarity with the use of basic hand/power tools
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs; experience with team lifting and proper lifting techniques
  • Ability to work at heights and in a variety of environmental conditions (hot, cold, outdoor exposure)
  • Strong safety awareness; able to identify and report hazards proactively
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed

Required by Level:

  • Level I:

oMinimum 1 year of maintenance experience in an industrial or distribution center environment

oBasic troubleshooting of mechanical issues and completion of PMs with supervision

oPrior experience with conveyor and warehouse equipment systems

  • Level II:

oMinimum 2-5 years of maintenance experience in an industrial or distribution center environment

oProficient in diagnosing and repairing material handling systems (belts, motors, rollers, sensors)

oComfortable reading manuals, part diagrams, and SOPs

oCan independently complete PMs and minor to moderate facility repairs

oKnowledge of basic electrical, VFDs, and motor controls

  • Level III:

oMinimum 5+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial or distribution center environment

oAdvanced troubleshooting skills in mechanical, pneumatic, and moderate to advanced electrical systems

oParticipates in planning facility projects

oBasic knowledge of PLCs

oModerate to advanced knowledge of motor control systems and VFD operations
