Job Description Summary

Plan, lay out, and perform all bench and machine operations to construct, alter and repair intricately designed and constructed tools, dies, fixtures, molds, gauges, machine attachments and mechanisms.

Job Description:

  • Completion of state-qualified apprenticeship program or equivalent work experience with general education including verbal and written communication and technical math.
  • Ability to perform difficult/technical calculations with decimals and fractions, use and interpret a wide variety of precision measuring instruments for exacting measurements, work from complicated drawings and specifications.
  • Consistently demonstrate a high degree of skill and extensive knowledge of tooling practices and applications; set up, adjust, and operate machine shop equipment.
  • Strong inter-personal skills needed to effectively train, guide, and support others in performing their duties and responsibilities. Ability to effectively organize work flow and set priorities in accordance with established procedures and daily instructions.
  • May act as Lead Person on any given tooling project, allocating work to tool room personnel specializing in various areas of machining and bench operations.
  • Occasionally do development and experimental work, select allowances and materials, proceed from own conception in absence of design and specifications.
  • Assist others with material handling tasks; maintain safe, neat and orderly work areas.
  • Perform other tasks or duties as may be assigned.
