JOB TITLE: Tool Design EngineerLOCATION: Palmdale,CAPAY RATE: $17-110/hour
We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.
Job Details:
Job Type: Contract (12 months with potential for extension)
Clearance: Active Secret clearance (within 5 years) or CE enrollment.

Summary:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, fabricate, and implement tooling and fixtures.
Develop detailed CAD models and drawings using CATIA V5.
Provide shop floor support to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.
Support tooling vendors during fabrication and ensure successful integration into production.
Maintain tooling configuration control throughout the lifecycle.
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for tooling issues.
Act as a technical checker for tool designs from internal teams and vendors.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
Active Secret clearance (within 5 years) or CE enrollment.
GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) experience.
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
Ability to interpret metrology data.
Experience with CATIA V5.
Tool design and fabrication support experience.
Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
Desired Skills:
STEM degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Hands-on mechanical or jig/fixture build experience.
Experience with 3D CAD/design tools (CATIA V4/V5 preferred).
Tool design experience for composite parts (layup, trim, bond, assembly fixtures).
Knowledge of root cause analysis and continuous improvement methods.
Experience supporting vendors and resolving tooling-related requests.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
