Schaeffler Aerospace USA Corp. is seeking a Tooling Service Apprentice to join its Connecticut Registered Apprenticeship Program supporting aerospace manufacturing operations. This role combines paid on-the-job learning (OJL) with related technical instruction (RTI) to develop the skills needed for a career in tooling and precision machining.Working alongside experienced toolmakers and manufacturing professionals, apprentices will develop the technical knowledge and hands-on experience required to build, maintain, repair, and improve tooling used in aerospace manufacturing processes.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in a structured apprenticeship program combining classroom and on-the-job training
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions
  • Develop precision measurement and inspection skills using gauges, micrometers, calipers, and other metrology equipment
  • Assist with the construction, repair, modification, and maintenance of tooling, fixtures, and production equipment
  • Perform benchwork operations including drilling, tapping, filing, fitting, and assembly
  • Learn conventional machining processes including milling, turning, and grinding
  • Support tooling troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities
  • Follow established safety, quality, and production standards
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to learning and continuous development

Your Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and interest in machining, tooling, manufacturing, or skilled trades
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic, curiosity, and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Enrollment in and successful completion of an approved machining or manufacturing technology program, such as those offered through Henry Abbott Technical High School (Danbury, CT) or other approved training providers, is a condition of employment
  • External applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Must meet Export Control requirements and qualify as a U.S. Person under applicable regulations
  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee
