Position Title: Track Construction Management, Emerging Talent Intern
Hourly Rate: $19.00 (Undergraduate), $21.00 (Graduate)
All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location.
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:
Track manages the inspection, repair and maintenance of NYCT's physical right of way assets including 821 miles of mainline and yard tracks, 800+ miles of electrified contact rail and 2,667 track switches. Oversees the division's safety program including the development and maintenance of policies and procedures. Plans, develops and allocates the capital and operating budgets. Coordinates the work train and trucking fleet including funding for the program. Provides oversight for identifying areas needing maintenance based on structural needs. Ensures proper evaluation of emergency situations and coordinates appropriate response. Provides leadership to subordinates in the planning and accomplishment of goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Daily administrative requests from the MOW Chief Track Office.
- Prepare production reports.
- Track production schedules.
- Liaise with and collaborate with various divisions at NYCT which include EAM, Track Planning and Budgets, etc.
- Prepare weekly IOD reports for the Chief of Track.
- Prepared and gather information for monthly IOD deep dive meetings for the Chief of Track.
- Maintain the records of IOD packages for all the divisions of track.
- Co-ordinate with all the sub-divisions of Track department to track and document planned and actual weekend work.
- Prepare and submit the actual weekend work reports to the VP's office every week.
PROJECTS:
- Assist in compiling the CWR Initiative Program for the Subway Action Plan.
- Monitoring and compiling various Construction performance reports.
- Assist in preparing labor & material budget for the various sub-divisions, quarterly forecasting for labor and materials, supervision and employee availability reports.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
- The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.
- The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
- The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA AND/OR matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA
- Major(s) Preferred: Business administration, public administration, computer science, finance, accounting, transportation planning, or related field.
