The person in this position will be responsible for supporting Trade Compliance Management by ensuring export and/or import compliance with U.S. Department of Commerce, State, Customs, and other government agencies regulations.  Reporting to the Senior Trade Compliance Manager, the ideal candidate will have the ability to understand US government regulations, including Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Anti-boycott Regulations, US Census, and Customs Regulations. This position is based on-site in our Fort Lauderdale, FL location.  Important NoticeEligibility Requirement: Only U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents will be considered for this position. Responsibilities
  • Conduct internal audits and provide feedback and guidance to improve and maintain satisfactory compliance.
  • Support and maintain an export-related record-keeping process for all transactions at HQ and subsidiaries, as required by law.
  • Determine and maintain import/export classifications, tariff classifications, U.S. Customs entry, and licensing information and requirements used by the Company.
  • Properly classify parts, and technology using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the U.S. (HTSUS), the Schedule B, the Export Administration
  • Handle Census, BIS, OFAC, and Customs correspondence as required.
  • Maintain export licensing and license-exemption records in the Company’s database.
  • Coordinate with program personnel to obtain export/import application information and review provisos on licenses and agreements to ensure business and customer requirements can be met by the license or agreement.
  • Periodically review sanctions and embargo rules and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Request, receive, and review “Know Your Customer” (KYC) information for customer/vendor screening and approval.
  • Handle and conduct global Denial Party Screening Process at branch and corporate level.
  • Executes the transactional monitoring, review and release of shipments blocked due to due diligence controls and compliance reasons Denied Parties, Export Control purposes
  • Create and/or update compliance forms in accordance with regulatory developments and enforcement in export control and sanctions.
  • Work closely with the Company’s sales, shipping, logistics, and external customers to create solutions that enable the Company to be compliant with applicable regulations and clear import and export shipments.
  • Electronic Export Declaration in ACE Portal.
  • Identify, interpret, and inform all team members of applicable regulatory requirements to ensure appropriate compliance activities are in place.
  • Will be required to assist all functional areas of the company on issues concerning regulatory compliance, as necessary.
  • Interact with domestic and international supplier/vendors, 3PL, transportation and customs brokers as necessary to clear shipments.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, determine available options for improvement and make recommendations for improvements to management
RequirementsCUSECO Certification is a plus
  • The ability to respond to inquiries and handle multiple simultaneous tasks while maintaining a positive approach always is essential in this schedule driven environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience in export and import process and procedures
  • Ability to develop and provide training.
  • Impeccable integrity, trustworthiness, and confidentiality
  • Strong and effective communicator, with the ability to deal directly with salespeople, customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to analyze, evaluate, develop, and implement processes and procedures.
  • Detailed oriented with good writing and organizational skills
  • Orientation towards analysis and fact-based decision making.
  • Sense of personal responsibility to work independently and under time pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team player.
  • Effective at coordinating efforts across a culturally diverse organization.
  • Must be able to handle multiple matters at a time and make good decisions under pressure.
  • Willing to work on complex transactions, monitor and enforce trade compliance regulations in a quick-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the ITAR preferred.
  • Experience with aircraft and engine parts and nomenclature preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Outlook) and Internet research.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in international business or Logistics & Supply Chain
  •  or minimum of 4 years of experience with US export/import compliance regulations, customs, supply chain, logistics.
  •  or customs brokerage.
