Description
PURPOSE:
The Trade Compliance Coordinator helps ensure that our products, technology, and data move across borders in compliance with U.S. and international regulations. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, highly ethical, and committed to supporting internal teams. No prior trade compliance experience is required. We will train the right person.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the day-to-day processes that keep shipments, documentation, and approvals compliant with applicable regulations.
- Help review basic product and customer information to ensure accuracy before orders move forward.
- Maintain orderly and complete electronic records (e.g., approvals, forms, internal communications).
- Assist internal customers (operations, sales, engineering, supply chain, etc.) with questions and routing requests to the right compliance contact.
- Follow step-by-step procedures for screening customers and destinations.
- Escalate unusual or sensitive matters to the trade compliance manager or other trade compliance team members quickly and accurately.
- Participate in team check-ins, training, and continuous-improvement activities.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR PROFESSIONAL LICENSE(s): Bachelor's degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Prior experience in trade compliance is not required. We welcome applicants who are beginning their careers or transitioning from another field. Prior experience in any detail oriented, process driven environment, such as administrative support, customer service, logistics, quality, or document management is helpful but not mandatory.

- Curiosity and willingness to learn. Trade compliance is a specialized area, and we will teach you the technical elements.
- Strong organizational habits, you are comfortable tracking multiple tasks and maintaining orderly documentation.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills.

SUPERVISION:
Position requires general supervision. The individual has primary responsibility for determining the general objectives of his or her work and the manner in which to accomplish such objectives. Work requests are received from persons throughout the organization, and the individual determines what work needs to be done; the manner in which it will be done; and the order in which it will be accomplished. The individual is expected to independently identify and accomplish objectives and assignments not specifically requested of them.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS:
Internal: Contracts, Operations, Engineering, Customer Service, Business Development, Product Management, Program Management, Legal, Executive Leadership, and Human Resources.
External: U.S. Departments of State, U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Treasury, U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Defense; Gentex distributors; freight forwarders; and customers.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL/COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop or kneel. The employee may lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The individual must have a high level of comprehension, and a high level of general, verbal, written, and numerical intelligence.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Works majority of the day in a climate-controlled environment.

Generally, travel is not required

Gentex's Carbondale facility is located in Northeastern Pennsylvania in Lackawanna County. Carbondale, PA is about twenty miles north of Scranton, PA, 50 miles south of Binghamton, NY, and about 125 miles from New York City and Philadelphia. The area hosts numerous nearby state parks, nature preserves and local colleges and universities, including The University of Scranton and Marywood University. Northeast Pennsylvania is a beautiful area and offers an excellent cost of living. It is a great place to work, recreate, meet people, raise a family and live!
