Trade Compliance Specialist

Position Summary

We are seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist to support our import and export operations while ensuring compliance with applicable customs regulations and trade requirements. This position will serve as a key point of contact between internal teams, customs brokers, and logistics providers to ensure efficient and compliant cross-border transactions.

Responsibilities

Coordinate import and export shipments from origin through customs clearance and final delivery.
Review and approve trade documentation, including:
- Customs declarations (Pedimentos)
- Certificates of Origin (USMCA/T-MEC)
- Commercial invoices and supporting documentation
Ensure compliance with Mexican Customs Law (Ley Aduanera), USMCA/T-MEC requirements, and IMMEX regulations when applicable.
Maintain accurate HS classifications and customs valuation records.
Work closely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and carriers to facilitate shipment movement.
Resolve customs clearance issues and documentation discrepancies.
Monitor import/export activities to ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations.
Support internal and external compliance audits.
Maintain organized trade compliance records and documentation.
Provide guidance to internal stakeholders regarding import/export requirements and compliance processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
3–6 years of experience in trade compliance, customs operations, import/export, or international logistics.
Strong knowledge of:
- Mexican Customs Regulations (Ley Aduanera)
- USMCA/T-MEC
- IMMEX Program (preferred)
- HS Classification and Customs Valuation
Experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
ERP experience required; SAP preferred.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
