Job Description

HIGH-LEVEL OVERVIEW

The Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for day-to-day oversight of transactional import and export compliance, ensuring goods are imported, exported, and shipped in compliance with corporate policies, CBP & EAR rules and regulations.This is an in-office position based near Houston, TX.

EXPECTATIONS

· Analyze import documentation for completeness and compliance with CBP requirements· Prepare import documents for the customs broker· Monitor customs broker performance against SOPs and compliance KPIs· Prepare export documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, and carnets· File Electronic Export Information (EEI) via the Automated Export System (AES)· Track and report the status of all imports and exports· Maintain records and reports of all imports· Provide import and export guidance to cross-functional teams· Assist the Trade Compliance Manager with investigations and audits

ESSENTIALS

· Licensed US Customs Broker (LCB) preferred· Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience· 5+ years of experience with the EAR, CBP, HTS, and Schedule B· Experience working with freight forwarders and customs brokers· Experience with steel commodities including pipe, fittings, flanges, and valves· Strong understanding of the EAR, HTS, and Section 232 and 301 tariffs and exemptions· Proficiency with MS Office and ERP software and reporting· Strong communication, analytical, and multi-tasking skills· Must be a U.S. Citizen able to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance
