Role Summary
We are looking for a highly technical Trade Support Analyst to support critical trading systems and data workflows. In this role, you will be solving real business problems by using hands-on SQL Server (T-SQL) skills to investigate data issues and discrepancies, while applying your understanding of trading and investment operations workflows to diagnose and resolve production issues.
This position sits at the intersection of technology and business operations — you will support traders, operations teams, and technical partners to ensure accurate trade processing and data integrity across systems.
Requirements
Technical Aptitude
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL).
- Writing and troubleshooting SQL queries and stored procedures
- Interpreting execution plans
- Using SQL to trace data flow and diagnose business data issues
- Experience troubleshooting data interfaces, ETL/ELT processes, and job failures.
- Ability to troubleshoot production issues, including database job monitoring and error log analysis.
- Familiarity with XML/XPath/XSLT or other data formatting technologies used in system integrations.
Trading & Investment Operations Experience (Non-negotiable)
- Direct experience supporting trading platforms or trading operations workflows.
- Understanding of the trade lifecycle (e.g., order entry → execution → allocation → settlement → downstream reporting)
- Familiarity with how trade data moves between systems, including common reconciliation patterns and breaks seen in daily operations.
- Experience working with traders, portfolio managers, or operations teams on production issue resolution.
- Knowledge of capital markets products (equities, fixed income, derivatives) and typical trade support processes.
- Exposure to Order Management Systems (OMS) such as Everest (Black Mountain/Allvue), Charles River, Eze, or similar — helpful but not required.
What you will do:
- Write, debug, and optimize SQL Server (T-SQL) queries, including complex joins and stored procedures, to investigate and resolve production data issues.
- Diagnose discrepancies in trade, position, and holdings data across multiple systems (e.g., upstream trading systems, OMS, accounting, downstream feeds).
- Investigate failed data imports/exports, interface failures, and ETL processes in support of daily production operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve trade breaks, reconciliation issues, and data mismatches by tracing records across systems.
- Collaborate with traders, operations teams, and technology partners to understand business impacts and communicate resolution plans.
- Document findings, contribute to operational runbooks, and share knowledge to improve team capabilities.
- Ability to translate complex technical findings into clear concise explanations for traders, pm, and ops that work in a fast paced environment.
What makes you successful here:
- You enjoy problem solving using data, not just writing queries.
- You can translate business questions into technical investigations using SQL and system analysis.
- You communicate clearly with both technical and business stakeholders.
- You thrive in environments where issues are investigated and resolved quickly and accurately.
Benefits
Employment Details:
- This is a contractor position only (C2C).
- Looking for individuals with 5+ years of experience.
- Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate their hands-on SQL skills during the interview process. This may include tasks such as writing, modifying, and troubleshooting SQL Server queries and stored procedures in real time to solve data problems or answer technical scenarios relevant to the role.
- Compensation ranges from $85-110 per hour based on experience and qualifications. Higher rates may be considered for exceptionally strong candidates.
- Candidates should be local to the NYC Area and can work in a hybrid model (3 days in the office.)
We are flexible and take an individualized approach with each candidate we meet, so we encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every listed requirement.
Only candidates who have the right to work in USA are considered for this position.
