Job Description

  • In this contingent resource assignment, you may: Consult on complex initiatives with broad impact and large-scale planning for Software Engineering.
  • Review and analyze complex multi-faceted, larger scale or longer-term Software Engineering challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors.
  • Contribute to the resolution of complex and multi-faceted situations requiring solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements that meet deliverables.
  • Strategically collaborate and consult with client personnel.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work or consulting experience, training, military experience, education.
  • 10+ years of relevant professional software engineering experience
  • The Trade Surveillance Software Engineering role is responsible for contributing to the technology planning, development, delivery, and embedding of a new third party Trade Surveillance solution across the US and EMEA regions. The successful candidate will leverage deep software engineering expertise alongside strong knowledge of international regulations (e.g., MAD/MAR) and the capital markets regulatory environment.
  • This role requires broad experience in full software development lifecycle delivery, including the implementation and integration of third party and cloud hosted platforms. The engineer will work on both strategic platform initiatives and tactical enhancements to existing surveillance systems, including modernization and rationalization of the overall surveillance technology estate. There may also be opportunities to contribute across other surveillance and financial crime technology solutions.
  • The position sits within a global Engineering team, partnering closely with local Compliance stakeholders and a broader technology organization primarily based in the US. The candidate will participate in vendor management activities and collaborate with vendor engineering teams located in the US and UK.
  • While the initial scope is focused on EMEA deployment, the solution is global in nature; therefore, the role requires understanding and incorporating global functional, technical, and regulatory requirements.
The engineer will be responsible for ensuring all development and integration activities comply with company standards related to:
  • Third party risk management
  • Information Security
  • Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • The role operates within an Agile delivery model and requires strong collaboration, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • The candidate will translate business and regulatory requirements into robust, scalable, and maintainable technical designs and software solutions.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong software engineering background with experience developing enterprise-scale applications
  • Expertise in object-oriented and/or functional programming (e.g., Java, Python, Scala)
  • Experience designing and consuming APIs and system integrations
  • Broad experience in technology delivery within complex financial systems
  • Knowledge of capital markets, Banking, Compliance, and Trade Lifecycle concepts
  • Familiarity with international regulations such as MAD/MAR and regulatory-driven systems
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Experience working within secure, controlled enterprise environments
Must have:
  • Scala, Spark, MongoDB, Advanced SQL skills
  • Financial industry background is highly preferred.
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with cloud platforms and cloud-hosted third party solutions
  • Automation and testing experience (e.g., Selenium, test frameworks)
  • Exposure to event-driven systems, messaging, or distributed architectures
  • Prior experience contributing to surveillance, risk, or compliance platforms
  • DevOps or CI/CD pipeline experience
Highly Preferred:
  • Prior Trade Surveillance system development experience
  • Strong Python or Scala development skills
  • Experience building or enhancing regulatory-driven applications
  • System integration and enhancement work within vendor-based platforms
