Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Trademark Attorney to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of trademark law and trademark management, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

Working closely with the rest of the team, you will play a key role in protecting and managing Maersk's global trademark portfolio. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive trademark searches and providing clearance opinions and filing strategies

  • Preparing and filing trademark applications and coordinating national filings with local representatives

  • Managing our trademark portfolio, including prosecution, maintenance, enforcement, and risk management

  • Analysing watch results and ensuring Maersk's assets are appropriately monitored and protected

  • Managing opposition and cancellation proceedings

  • Advising Corporate Branding on trademark strategy and ad hoc legal matters

  • Assisting Corporate Branding, Cyber Security, and Forensics on brand protection matters

  • Drafting and reviewing trademark-related agreements, including licensing agreements, co-existence agreements, release agreements, consents to use, and cease-and-desist letters

  • Monitoring developments in trademark law and delivering training to stakeholders globally

  • Actively contributing to team discussions, goals, and initiatives from a trademark perspective

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will bring trademark expertise together with strong commercial judgment and the ability to work effectively in a global environment. We are looking for someone who has:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role. Trademark experience is essential.

  • Experience working in-house in a global organisation or large private practice is preferable

  • Self-starter, confident, and curious with a positive and service-oriented mindset

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to exercise sound commercial and legal judgment for resolving complex matters in creative and efficient ways

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver practical and strategic business advice

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently managing multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Proficient in trademark management software and databases
