GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Mobile Trailer Technician III is expected to have mastered all aspects of Preventative Maintenance on all trailer systems with the ability to train and develop other Technicians. Will perform all major and advanced adjustments, repairs, and component replacements. Perform advanced diagnostic operations in order to successfully diagnose trailer system failures and suggest accurate system repairs. This technician will also work in the shop between service calls. They may also be asked to participate in the after-hour on-call rotation for the location, if needed.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Examine trailers to determine extent of damage or malfunction(s).
- Diagnoses, repairs, builds and rebuilds all parts of trailer equipment.
- Provide customers with preventative maintenance solution, whenever appropriate.
- Maintain 80% productivity
- Prevent comebacks
- Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of trailers and equipment.
- Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as lubrications and component replacements.
- Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric and brake accessories).
- Fix or replace components such as axles, suspension parts, lights, and wiring.
- Perform repairs on the trailer's body, doors, roof, and other structural parts.
- Test components using proper equipment to ensure proper operations.
- Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil spring systems, and Hendrickson walking beam type suspension systems.
- Perform basic aluminum and steel wire welding.
- File, grind, sand and smooth filled or repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace and service truck.
- Practice safe driving.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
- High school diploma or GED
- Vocational/Welding certificate/degree is a plus, but not required.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- 7 + years of experience with repairing class 7 & 8 trailers
- Strong ability to troubleshoot complex issues and find efficient solutions
- Training experience
- Welding
- Air Brake Certified
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Valid driver's license with good driving record required.
- Class A CDL is preferred, but not required.
- Must provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox.
- Maintain perfect safety record
- Ability to lift 50lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Exposure to Inside/Outside Conditions, Extreme Temperatures (average of 100 Degrees F), Humid Conditions, Chemical Hazards, Vibration, Equipment Noise, Work in enclosed and confined spaces.
