Job Description

Considered the founder of the industry, Genentech, now a member of the Roche Group, has been delivering on the promise of biotechnology for 50 years.

Our ability to bring transformative medicines to patients depends on the positive experience, engagement and resilience of everyone who works here. Our employees are the heart of Genentech and the driving force behind the progress that brings important new medicines to the people who need them. We believe a great people experience is critical for revolutionizing healthcare and that’s why we’re committed to cultivating an environment where people feel valued, included and able to thrive.

The Opportunity

The Learning & Business Process Specialist (LBPS) is a dual-function role designed to ensure site-wide operational excellence through robust Training Governance and high-level Business Process Support. In this role, you serve as the site’s primary architect for training strategy, ensuring that all personnel are not only compliant but technically proficient in our distribution workflows.

As the Training Governance lead, you will own the selection, development, and effectiveness of our trainer network. Simultaneously, you will maintain proficiency in the Business Process Specialist (BPS) functions, serving as a technical backup for site operations, quality systems, and SAP EWM integrations. Reporting to the Head of Business Excellence, you will ensure a resilient workforce capable of meeting the daily needs of Commercial Parcel, Inbound/Outbound Logistics, and Clinical Supply.

What You’ll Do

Training Governance & Strategic Leadership (Primary Focus)

  • Training Strategy & Design: Design and lead the site-wide training strategy to ensure operational readiness and regulatory compliance.

  • Trainer Selection & TTT: Implement a rigorous selection process for departmental trainers and lead the "Train-the-Trainer" (TTT) program to ensure standardized, high-quality instruction across all shifts.

  • Effectiveness & Metrics: Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure training effectiveness, moving beyond completion rates to measure actual on-the-floor proficiency.

  • Matrix Ownership: Own and maintain the site’s Cross-Training Matrices, identifying skill gaps and proactively scheduling training to ensure operational redundancy.

  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure 100% compliance with mandatory GxP and safety training; lead the response for training-related inquiries during internal and external audits.

Business Process Support (Operational Support Focus)

  • Operational Continuity: Maintain technical proficiency in all warehouse processes to provide functional coverage for the BPS role during absences or peak volumes.

  • Quality Assurance & Compliance: Support the maintenance of GMP standards, investigate deviations, and manage CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Actions) within warehouse operations.

  • Technical Troubleshooting: Provide on-the-floor support for warehouse equipment and systems, identifying root causes for process bottlenecks and implementing efficiency enhancements.

  • SAP EWM Integration: Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into SAP EWM functional specifications; support system testing and troubleshooting to ensure alignment with operational needs.

  • Documentation: Prepare, review, and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and process flow charts, ensuring they are accurate, compliant, and optimized for learner comprehension.

Inventory Management

  • Track and manage inventory levels, ensuring accurate records across all storage and shipping teams.

  • Support daily/weekly inventory accuracy cycle counts and oversee the warehouse discrepancy and destruction process flow.

  • Work with 3PL organizations and internal stakeholders to resolve complex inventory discrepancies.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

  • Additional certification or background in Instructional Design, Organizational Development, or Learning & Development is highly desirable.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in business process support, quality assurance, or warehouse management within a regulated environment.

  • Proven experience in Training Management or Governance, specifically in selecting trainers and measuring learning outcomes.

  • Experience in pharmaceutical product distribution and GxP environments is desired.

  • Hands-on experience with SAP EWM solutions is preferred.

  • Governance Expertise: Strong capability in designing training strategies, managing cross-training matrices, and implementing Train-the-Trainer models.

  • Process Proficiency: Strong understanding of GMP standards, regulatory compliance, and process improvement methodologies (Lean/Six Sigma).

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze training data and operational metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.

  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to coach trainers and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Systems Proficiency: High proficiency in SAP EWM, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and standard distribution management technologies.

Work Environment / Physical Demands / Safety Considerations

  • Ability to repeatedly lift more than 40 lbs.

  • Ability to stay on your feet for extended periods to provide "on-the-floor" support and training assessments.

  • Champion of safety: Consistently recognizes, uses, and trains others on available safety equipment and procedures.
