Role: Transportation Specialist Position Type: Full-Time Contract (40hrs/week) Contract Duration: 3-8 weeks Work Schedule: 8 hours/day (Mon-Fri) Work Hours: 1 st Shift: ~5:00 AM to 1:30 PM / 2 nd Shift: ~1:30 PM to 10:00 PM / 3 RD Shift: ~9:30 PM to 5:00 AM Location: 100% Onsite - Collins, MS, USA
Transportation Specialist will support shipping operations within a fast-paced chicken processing facility. The primary responsibility is to scan, identify, organize, and proactively split pallets so forklift drivers can quickly pick up product and move it to the appropriate staging area or outbound truck.
Key Responsibilities
- Use a handheld RF/scanning gun to scan and track pallets/product.
- Proactively identify and split or organize pallets based on shipping and transportation needs.
- Stage product in the correct areas to keep forklift drivers moving efficiently.
- Verify product is routed to the appropriate location, load, or truck .
- Coordinate closely with forklift drivers and shipping/warehouse team members.
- Use an electric pallet jack as needed. This position will not operate a forklift.
- Safely lift, move, and handle product weighing up to 70 lbs.
- Maintain accuracy while working in a fast-paced shipping environment.
Work Environment / Requirements
- Must be comfortable working in a cold and wet chicken processing environment .
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move product throughout the shift.
- Comfortable using handheld scanners and learning shipping/warehouse systems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with urgency.
- Warehouse, shipping, logistics, distribution, or manufacturing experience is preferred.
Ideal candidate: Someone who is proactive and constantly thinking one step ahead , identifying which pallets need to be separated and staged before the forklift driver arrives so product can keep moving without delays.
