Job Description
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
- Under the direction of the supervisor or lead person, transports patients and visitors of all ages to and from various clinics and nursing units within the hospital as requested.
SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Patient Escort Supervisor
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Adheres to LCMH policies to properly identify patients using 2 patient identifiers.
- Adheres to hand off communication policy.
- Maintains patient safety by correctly securing patients on transfer device.
- Utilizes proper body mechanics when transporting patients.
- Knowledge of hospital/clinic layout and utilizes safest and most expedient route for patients delivery.
- Maintains direct communication with the patient while transporting to ensure patient comfort and security.
- Prioritizes transport requests.
- Assists in mail collection and/or delivery when duties allow.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- CPR certified
- Basic computer skills.
- Effective communication skills, solid team player and a commitment to providing excellent patient service and professionalism.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Work requires a variety of physical activities including standing and walking for long periods of time, bending, stooping, and lifting.
- The work environment may be physically confining.
- Visual acuity is required for a variety of specific activities.
- Must have normal hearing.
- Ability to do shift work as required on weekdays, weekends and holidays.
