Job Description
Job Title: RN – PACU (Pre/Post-Op) Location: Portland, ME Unit: Periop Pre-Post Duration: 13 Weeks Schedule: 36 hours per week (48 hrs preferred) 12-hour Day/Evening shifts Every other weekend (day shift scheduled + call rotation) Role Overview: RN will provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing Cath/EP, OR, TEE, and CV procedures in a Level 1 Trauma Center. Must be flexible to float to Bramhall PACU, IMC, or ICU as needed. Key Responsibilities: Deliver high-quality Phase 1 post-anesthesia care (2:1 ratio; 3–4 patients in 23-hour stay). Manage cardiac drips, groin sites, epidurals, PCAs, IV therapy, A-lines, and tele monitoring. Interpret EKG and telemetry strips accurately. Support procedures including vascular, TAVR, robotic, pediatric cath, and cardioversion. Participate in rotating call and weekend coverage. Document in Epic EMR accurately and timely. Requirements: Active RN license (ME or compact state) 3 years PACU and ICU experience (recent) BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications required Prior travel nurse experience strongly preferred Trauma Level 1 background Ability to float as needed Unit Details: 40 pre/post beds + 9 overnight bays (23-hour short stay embedded) Equipment: IV pumps, PCAs, epidurals, A-lines, tele monitoring, TEE/CV Dress code: Any scrub color, fragrance-free (no artificial nails, no cell phone use on unit) Pay/Shift Details: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM start time, variable end) Weekend day shift and rotating call every other weekend
