Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Job Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy treatments under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist*
  • Implement individualized treatment plans designed to improve patient independence and functional performance*
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs)*
  • Facilitate therapeutic exercises and activities to improve strength, coordination, balance, cognition, and mobility*
  • Monitor patient progress and communicate treatment outcomes to the supervising Occupational Therapist*
  • Educate patients and caregivers regarding therapy goals, adaptive equipment, and home exercise programs*
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements*
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to optimize patient outcomes*
  • Promote patient safety and quality care throughout the rehabilitation process

Education & Certification Requirements

  • Associate Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program*
  • Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential*
  • Current Montana Occupational Therapy Assistant License or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to start date*
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred*
  • Strong communication, organizational, and patient care skills*
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team

Experience Requirements

  • Previous Occupational Therapy Assistant experience preferred*
  • Experience in Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF), Long-Term Care (LTC), and small rural healthcare facilities is a significant plus*
  • Experience working with geriatric, orthopedic, neurological, and post-surgical patient populations preferred*
  • Previous rehabilitation or post-acute care experience highly desirable
