Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Job Responsibilities

Provide occupational therapy treatments under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist*
Implement individualized treatment plans designed to improve patient independence and functional performance*
Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs)*
Facilitate therapeutic exercises and activities to improve strength, coordination, balance, cognition, and mobility*
Monitor patient progress and communicate treatment outcomes to the supervising Occupational Therapist*
Educate patients and caregivers regarding therapy goals, adaptive equipment, and home exercise programs*
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements*
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to optimize patient outcomes*
Promote patient safety and quality care throughout the rehabilitation process

Education & Certification Requirements

Associate Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program*
Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential*
Current Montana Occupational Therapy Assistant License or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to start date*
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred*
Strong communication, organizational, and patient care skills*
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team

Experience Requirements

Previous Occupational Therapy Assistant experience preferred*
Experience in Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF), Long-Term Care (LTC), and small rural healthcare facilities is a significant plus*
Experience working with geriatric, orthopedic, neurological, and post-surgical patient populations preferred*
Previous rehabilitation or post-acute care experience highly desirable
