Job Description

OverviewRegistered Nurse – PCU, travel assignment in Hilo, Hawaii. Start date 07/20/2026 for 13 weeks. Weekly pay range $2,142–$2,183 per week. Guaranteed hours: none. Schedule: 36 hours per week after the first week of orientation; no call and no guaranteed hours. This hospital-based Progressive Care Unit includes a 15-bed unit (3-step down ICU and 12 telemetry beds). The RN will provide primary nursing care, telemetry monitoring, and documentation, with occasional floating to all acute units in-house as needed.Key Highlights- Weekly pay: $2,142–$2,183 per week- Contract duration: 13 weeks- Schedule: 36 hours per week after orientation; no guaranteed hours- Start date: 07/20/2026- Unit setting: Progressive Care Unit with telemetry and step-down ICU capabilities; float to other acute units as neededResponsibilities- Deliver direct patient care in the Progressive Care Unit and telemetry patients, including assessments, care planning, and timely interventions- Monitor telemetry continuously, read strips, recognize changes, and escalate to the physician per protocol- Administer prescribed medications and treatments; document in Meditech; utilize Pyxis for medication administration; assist with BIPAP as needed- Perform fingerstick blood glucose checks; manage glycemic control and respond to abnormal results- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, provide patient and family education, and participate in discharge planning- Float to Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and ER units as needed; uphold patient safety and clinical standardsRequirements- Active Hawaii Registered Nurse license required by start of assignment (if not currently licensed, must apply upon acceptance)- Minimum 1 year of hospital acute-care experience within the last 12 months- Telemetry experience preferred; Progressive Care and telemetry experience preferred- ACLS preferred, PALS preferred, NIHSS certification preferred- Ability to work in a fast-paced acute-care setting and to float to other units as neededBenefits and Support- Orientation and pre-employment employee health appointment scheduled prior to start- Assignment coordination and ongoing support from Healthforce Healthcare LLC- Training on unit systems and equipment (Meditech, Pyxis, BIPAP, continuous cardiac monitoring) as part of onboarding- Clear avenues to communicate with a dedicated recruiter for travel-related questions and needs- 36-hour weekly schedule after orientation and the opportunity to gain experience across multiple acute care unitsFind more opportunitiesIf you’d like to explore other openings available at Healthforce Healthcare LLC, please visit https://healthforce.applytojob.com/applyPlease note: Pay rates and guaranteed hours are estimates and may vary.
