Position Overview
A travel rehabilitation nurse is a healthcare professional who specializes in helping people with disabilities and chronic illness attain optimal function, health, and adapt to an altered lifestyle. Travel rehab nurses collaborate with teams of healthcare specialists to treat patients who've experienced heart attacks, strokes, car accidents, traumatic brain injuries, and more.
Primary Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
Rehab travel nurses have the expertise to help determine their patients needs, coordinate corresponding therapy and exercise schedules, and make it to each of their appointments
Implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed
Assess patients' baseline function and develop realistic goals
Provide direct nursing care for patients with chronic conditions and disabilities
Patient Education:
The ARN refers to travel rehab nurses as not only healthcare professionals, but teachers, caregivers, collaborators, and client advocates
These RNs have a responsibility to educate their patients and their families about the patients' conditions
Provide support and guidance during major health and lifestyle transitions
Teach patients and families about disability rights and available resources
Required Qualifications:
Active RN license in compact state or ability to obtain licensure in assignment states
Previous healthcare experience
Current BLS certification
Clear background check and drug screening
