Tree Service Crane Operator

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and safety focused Tree Crew Crane Operator to support active tree service operations. This role is dedicated to crane work within a tree care environment, including removals, large pruning jobs, and storm work. You will be working directly with climbers, arborists, and ground crews on residential and commercial job sites. This is not a construction or industrial crane role. This position requires experience operating a knuckle boom crane, such as a Fassi crane with a grapple saw head, in active tree service operations. Candidates with only construction or industrial crane experience may not be a fit.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate a crane to lift, move, and position trees, logs, and large debris during tree care operations.
• Conduct pre-operation inspections to ensure crane equipment is in safe working condition.
• Collaborate with arborists and ground crew to execute precise and safe crane maneuvers.
• Set up cranes, including proper placement and stabilization, on various terrains.
• Adhere to all company, industry, and OSHA safety standards and protocols.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on crane equipment as needed.
• Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate operations and ensure job site safety.
• Maintain accurate records of crane operations, inspections, and maintenance.

Qualifications:

• Valid crane operator certification (e.g., NCCCO or equivalent).
• Proven experience operating cranes in tree service.
• Strong understanding of crane safety protocols and load management.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and challenging terrains.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
• Valid CDL B or A is required.
