- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license, with clean driving record.
- Ability to pass required Pennsylvania State Medical Exam for Drivers of Commercial Vehicles.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with donors and associates.
- Ability to interact in an appropriate and positive manner with the public and with other Goodwill employees.
- Ability to work weekends on a regular basis.

Physical capacities required: ability to engage in frequent bending, stooping, lifting and stretching; ability to lift and carry objects weighing 35 lb. or more frequently, and objects weighing 50 lb. or more occasionally, (material handling equipment will be used to minimize effort expended when practical); ability to engage in prolonged sitting for one hour or more several times each day; vision and hearing corrected to within normal limits.
Duties and Responsibilities |
- Drives Goodwill’s trucks and other vehicles to transport materials as assigned. This may include delivering shipments and other items to the retail stores and attended donation sites, picking up used goods from all donation sites (may include private homes and businesses), delivering merchandise purchased from Goodwill, picking and delivering sub-contracted work performed by Goodwill, and any other transportation function as assigned.
- Loads and unloads materials from trucks, using material handling equipment whenever practical and possible.
- Works as attendant both at regular donation sites and for special donation drives, as needed. This involves receiving used goods from donors, assisting them in handling these goods, completing and giving donors a tax receipt, keeping a record of donors and items received, and doing a rough sort of items received.
- Renders polite and responsive service to donors, customers, and other members of the public.
- Works cooperatively with all other Goodwill employees and trainees.
- Inspects truck daily for routine and non-routine maintenance needs. Completes written checklist based on this inspection, and informs Director of Retail Operations of any suspected maintenance needs.
- Operates truck and performs all job duties in a safe manner, in accordance with all established Goodwill safety procedures and with federal, state and or local laws, and in a manner which minimizes the chance of injury to self or others, or damage to equipment or property.
- Conforms to all Goodwill policies in the course of his/her job.
- Performs other duties for the benefit of Goodwill Industries, as assigned. Some of these duties may be considered to be non-essential to the position.
