Job Description

Truss Designer

We are looking for a detail oriented and experienced Truss Designer to join our well-established team! The Truss Designer will be responsible for creating complete and accurate Truss Placement Plans and Truss Design Drawings for both custom and track residential building projects. As the Truss Designer, you will also work closely with other Truss Designers, as well as, communicating and discussing changes or design issues with architects, engineers, and clients in the construction industry.

Job Type: Full-Time + Overtime potential

Responsibilities for the Truss Designer:

  • Exercise complete attention to detail to create complete and accurate Truss Placement Plans and Truss Design Drawings (TDD).
  • Design roof trusses, floor trusses, and pre-engineered wood products with design software, CAD, and other supporting component design software.
  • Follow Building Codes to ensure the safety of the design while meeting industry standards.
  • Utilize advanced math skills for calculating lengths, weights, angles, and technical knowledge of CAD software and other related computer programs.
  • Read and interpret Architectural and Structural plans and recognize potential plan problems and visualize solutions.
  • Communicate with clients during the design process.
  • Provide explanations and interpretations of designs through a review process.
  • Involved in repair designing, coordination of field issues, communicates with Construction Managers/Superintendents.
  • Research industry documents on products, building codes, and construction techniques for design solutions and continual learning.

Requirements of the Truss Designer:

  • Minimum 3-5+ years of Truss Design and Draft experience in the Construction and Building Materials industries.
  • Highly proficient in Alpine software
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed
  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate
  • Industry knowledge and experience in Construction and Building Materials
  • Ability to manage and complete tasks on time.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
