What Impact You’ll MakeWithin Gas Turbine Engineering (GTE), our Design Liaison Engineering team is centered on providing design engineering support to our global supply chain partners. We work with an unwavering sense of urgency, quality, and innovation. Our team serves as the bridge between supply chain manufacturing and design engineering groups – we maintain high technical rigor to ensure quality of the product is not compromised while working with the sense of urgency that is needed by supply chain and our customers.The Engineer will focus on unit assembly & rotor support for all flavors of GTs that GE Vernova offers. They will support internal factories, primarily GVL, & external supplier needs in these areas which includes piece part machining and/or assembly across all components that make up a GT. They will be responsible for delivering optimal solutions for our customers and will have a focus on driving defect reduction, qualifications, analyzing and dispositioning non-conformances, performing hand calculations, Ansys FEA as needed, owning specific actions related to engineering drawing revisions, applying lean principals to drive productivity and in general – helping to solve some of the biggest challenges we face in building our GT engines.Job Description
What you’ll do
- Deliver high quality solutions to address deviant hardware and design support for corrective actions to help reduce or prevent repeat incidents.
- Conceive innovative ideas to solve unit assembly & rotor manufacturing and design problems.
- Leverage hand calculations, CAD, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models for analysis supporting dispositions to deviant hardware, redesign efforts, and drawing revisions to support improved manufacturability.
- Support factory test initiatives and challenges as needed.
- Conduct technical reviews for design tasks with Controlled Title Holders (CTHs). Evaluate and mitigate component, assembly, and/or system level risks.
- Execute standard work and design templates for common issues encountered for specific components/assemblies. Identify creative ways to improve and create our processes, design methods, and manufacturing methods.
- Maintain strong relationships with supply chain teams. Keep abreast of new product design, new technology, and emerging fleet services issues.
- Drive technical rigor and integrity in all aspects of design and post-design work.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams including Global Supply Chain, Quality, Design, Materials, CAD Design, Controlled Title Holders, Systems, Performance, Repair, Heat Transfer, etc.
- Lean into the GTE Engineer 2030 initiatives to drive enhanced productivity & improved quality with upskill in automation & AI applications.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college and 3+ years of engineering experience.
- Ability to handle US-export controlled information.
What will make you stand out
- Relevant experience in working with the unit assembly &/or rotor manufacturing teams.
- Understanding of Gas Turbine rotors & assembly including various critical inspections involved.
- Experience in programming with Python, VBA, and/or other languages.
- Understanding of GD&T & ability to interpret engineering drawings and BoMs.
- Ability & interest to learn new things quickly.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Demonstrated capability in collaborating in a cross functional global organization.
- Humble, open-minded, self-motivated, and a continuous learner.
- Ability to rapidly shift day to day priorities based on emerging business needs.
