Job Description
Under the supervision of the Director or delegate, the Unit Tech will be proficient in two of the following: Nursing Assistant, Unit Clerk or Monitor Tech.
Nursing Assistant: Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic care to patients and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
Unit Clerk: Assists in planning, organizing and implementing activities that occur in the nurse's station. Responsible for clerical and receptionist duties. Responsible for documentation, communication and coordination of nursing unit activities. Maintains the physical environment of the area.
Monitor Tech: Responsible for ongoing surveillance of patient's cardiac rhythm. Provides nurses with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. Recognizes and intervenes in life threatening arrythmias. Responsible for documentation, communication and coordination of activities related to monitoring telemetry tracings.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- BLS is required
- One year of health care experience is preferred
- Previous unit clerk, nursing assistant and monitor tech experience preferred
