Job Description

Princeton Day School is seeking an experienced Upper SchoolScience (Physics) Teacher beginning in the 2026-27 school year. Successful candidates will be eager to provide an engaged science classroom, using a variety of research based instructional tools, including inquiry based and project-based teaching and learning. Teaching assignments reflect the training and interests of the teacher coupled with the needs of the students.

In addition to classroom teaching, a full-time teacher contributes to the community life of PDS as an advisor of 6-12 students, has various duties, and is expected to contribute to school life outside the classroom in an extracurricular activity, such as coaching or clubs. One to four times a semester, a weekend or evening activity or campus event may be required.

For this position, the ideal candidate is expected to:

  • Teach a total of four (4) classes of some combination of Physics / Honors Physics / AP Physics and/or another science elective.
  • Possess a well-developed sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community members; be committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Provide timely feedback to support a growth mindset and continuous learning
  • Serve as an advisor in the upper school
  • Collaborate within course teams and for department and divisional initiatives
  • Apply best practices in science instruction and assessment

Qualifications and Personal Attributes:

  • Bachelor's Degree required (Advanced degree preferred)
  • Teaching experience (3+ years preferred), AP experience preferred
  • Proven success in student-centered teaching
  • Training in research-informed pedagogical strategies
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
  • Experience with technology integration
  • The current position requires knowledge of physical science at the high school level. The ability to offer elective courses about contemporary scientific issues is also highly desirable.
  • Creative and resourceful, with a sense of humor and strong work ethic

Compensation Range: $66,500 - $107,000 a year (this role is eligible for benefits)
