Job Description
role and responsibilitiesUnder general supervision, performs various radiographic procedures. Performs a variety of technical tasks involved in operating radiographic equipment and making radiographs of designated portions of the body. Duties include transferal of images, archiving, unarchiving, and performing of appropriate imaging protocols, which meet the department’s standard of quality.essential functions:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  1. Assisting in the management of back-office patient flow in regards to imaging.
  2. Escorting patients to and from the x-ray room, prepares patient for exam, identifying oneself, explaining procedures, confirming patient ID and checking correctness of the order, positioning the patient appropriately and taking the required films.
  3. Produces quality images following established departmental and QA (Quality Assurance) protocols to include technique, views, positions, proper labeling, and patient ID (identification).
  4. Processing images and checking the images for accuracy and clarity before presenting the images to the physician for evaluation and review.
  5. Keeping documentation of all x-rays taken each day, submitting the necessary information to billing and radiology reading. 
  6. Prepares the images in PACS (Pictures Archive Communication System) for processing by the radiologist as needed.
  7. Maintaining supplies in X-Ray room.
  8. Follows established radiation safety guidelines “ALARA” (as low as reasonably acceptable) in reference to time, distance and shielding.
  9. Maintaining the radiation exposure documentation.  Collecting badges and distributing new ones each month.
  10. Acts as liaison between the department and the radiology maintenance and repair vendors for x-ray and processor equipment.
  11. Keeps x-ray room area clean.
  12. Reviews physician’s schedules and prepares for day.
  13. Performs selected patient care duties, which include but are not limited to collection and management of patient clinical information, including chief complaint.
  14. Rooms patients after paperwork is complete. The PCC documents chief complaint in patient's chart and keeps patient flow moving smoothly and efficiently.
  15. Perform related tasks and assignments as necessary.
  16. Complies with established organizational policies and procedures of WTMF.

  1. High School graduate or GED required.
  2. 2 years of experience as a Radiological Technologist preferred but not required.
  3. Previous experience in ordering x-ray images, supplies and managing inventory.
  4. Must be a current C.R.T. (Certified Radiology Technologist) with the State of California. 
  5. A.R.R.T. (American Registry of Radiology Technologists) is required.
