Job Description
Job Title: Accounting AssistantPay: $27 to $35Hours: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pmStart Date: ASAP Looking for a stable, full-time role with excellent growth potential? Join a thriving construction company in Scarborough as an Accounting Assistant and become a vital part of their financial team. As an Accounting Assistant, you'll support the company's financial workflows. Youll work closely with the CFO and accounting team to ensure accurate and timely financial processes that keep operations running smoothly.What You'll Do As an Accounting Assistant, you will be responsible for:
- Managing the payables cycle coding invoices, ensuring timely payments, and reconciling corporate credit cards*
- Reconciliations matching bank records with company cash balances and resolving discrepancies*
- Preparing and submitting monthly sales and use tax reports, ensuring deadlines are met*
- Supporting month-end close activities reconciling accounts and preparing reports on schedule*
- Assisting construction teams and office staff with reports, insurance filings, and billing support*
- Handling vendor records and year-end 1099 filings accurately and on time
- Prior bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred; strong attention to detail is a must*
- Working knowledge of general ledger coding and accounts payable workflows*
- Proficiency with accounting software, online payroll platforms, and spreadsheets*
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines*
- Problem-solving skills to trace variances and correct errors confidently*
- Ability to work independently after training with limited supervision*
- Clear communication skills for vendor interactions and reporting to the CFO*
- High school diploma required; coursework or an associates degree in accounting is a plus
