Job Description
Job Title: Sr Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Tempe, AZ Duration: 6+ Months, Possible Extension Pay Rate: $51/Hr on W2 U.S. Citizen only We are seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to provide technical expertise and support in the materials and process engineering of cast and/or forged products. Join our highly engaged and integrated Materials Engineering team, where you will collaborate across aerospace engineering teams to create solutions and systems that meet the evolving needs of our customers. This role is based in Tempe, Arizona, and involves participating in all phases of product development. You will be a technical point of contact for less experienced engineers and provide support for new and existing cast and/or forged products, including aerospace gas turbine engines used for propulsion and auxiliary power. Primary responsibilities include support for materials and processes involved in the design and manufacture of cast/forged parts, as well as regular interaction with suppliers to help resolve issues. The position may occasionally require lifting up to 35 pounds in a single lift and involves approximately 10% travel within the US to suppliers. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field 4 years of experience in materials/process engineering in the casting and/or forging industry 4 years of experience with aerospace alloys such as aluminum, steel, titanium, and nickel Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree with specialization in Materials Science, Material Engineering, Metallurgy, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Advanced degree in engineering or another related field Understanding and hands-on experience in casting and/or forging processes Familiarity with industrial materials and processing specifications Familiarity with Nadcap and industry standards, requirements, and approvals Capability of assessing new suppliers and determining their strengths and weaknesses Experience with conducting supplier audits Experience troubleshooting material and process issues, and providing technical solutions for rapid problem solving Liaison work between suppliers and engineering, quality, supplier development engineers, and integrated supply chain Understanding engineering drawings and requirements Experience in Six Sigma, Lean, and other process improvement tools Experience with casting and/or forging simulation tools like DEFORM Application Instructions For immediate consideration please click APPLY.
