Assembles minor products or components with a small number of details within routine and highly repetitive assembly operations. Typically works at a workbench or on a conveyer line. Common tasks include checking, sorting, packaging, labeling, pasting, sniping, tying, or trimming either manually or by machine. Performs basic equipment adjustments, routine maintenance, and cleaning. May perform miscellaneous jobs such as moving assemblies/machines or cleaning floors. Typically has 0-2 years of experience and works under close supervision. Typical job titles include: General Labor, Machine Operator, Maker/Packer, Assembler and Line Operator.

POSITION SUMMARY

Operate machinery to make power cable and prepare for shipping to customer.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Review documentation/work orders
• Set up machinery/processes in Tower, pay off and take up areas (assigned area)
• Operate machinery in the assigned area
• Clean and reassemble machinery in the assigned area
• Monitor controls, materials, and processes in the assigned area
• Monitor the quality of production
• Load / replace materials in the assigned area
• Change out the product and splice the product for continued production
• Repair machinery and prepare components for machines in assigned area
• Coordinate other repairs with maintenance and engineering
• Operate power moving devices, change propane cylinders
• Communicate with supervisor
• Direct helpers
• Document processes
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in the wire & cable industry a plus but not required.
• High school degree required.
• Read/use precision gauges and tools.
• Perform shop math.
• Read/follow written instructions.
• Use a computer for simple tasks.
• Strong focus on teamwork

SKILLS AND ABILITIES QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Position requires individuals with proven mechanical aptitude. Must have the ability to:

• Read micrometers and other related precision tools.
• Perform shop arithmetic.
• Read and follow written instructions.
• Communicate effectively to receive and pass on information and instructions.
• Troubleshoot basic line problems.
• Continuously pay attention to detail.
• Fulfill simple computer tasks.
• Work within a Team structure.
• Perform good conductor welds
