Job Description
Utility Worker I
PRIMARY DUTY:
Working under the assigned supervisor in charge of field operations, primary responsibility will be perform labor and technical work to maintain the water and wastewater systems. Perform 24 hour stand-by duties as needed or on a rotating basis for operations, maintenance, and safety of facilities to ensure the integrity of the system.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A combination of education and experience and professional skills that best meets the needs of this position will be considered. Some considerations are:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
- Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License with good driving record required.
- For continued employment must obtain:
- Valid class "A" Texas Commercial Driver's license with tank endorsement within six months of hire or transfer into position.
- Minimum Class "D" or higher Water Treatment/Distribution license or Class "D/I" or higher Wastewater Treatment/Collection license as issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality within one year of hire or transfer into position.
Utility Worker II
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A combination of education and experience and professional skills that best meets the needs of this position will be considered. Some considerations are:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of work in the water distribution or wastewater collection system maintenance or inspection field.
(Years of education/experience may be considered in selection process with regard to minimum qualifications)
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
- Valid class "A" Texas Commercial Driver's license with tank endorsement and good driving record.
- Minimum Class "D" Water Treatment or Distribution license or Class "D/I" or higher Wastewater Treatment/Collection license as issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
