Overview

The UI/UX Designer establishes, implements, and drives the overall user experience strategy for complex digital products and websites. This role leads user-centered design initiatives from research through to technical implementation, balancing multiple product roadmaps simultaneously. Operating within highly regulated, safety-critical frameworks, the designer advocates for end-user needs by transforming complex technical data, regulatory requirements, and human factors insights into intuitive, evidence-based digital interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Strategy & Leadership: Establish and implement comprehensive design strategies, workflows, and tools across corporate digital assets. Provide dedicated design leadership and guidance to cross-functional technical teams.

  • Asset Creation: Build and deliver high-fidelity UX assets, including detailed process flows, site maps, conceptual diagrams, structural wireframes, and interactive mockups to define specific interaction behaviors.

  • Requirements & Collaboration: Partner closely with multidisciplinary teams—including engineers, product managers, clinical experts, and regulatory stakeholders—to define business requirements, user scenarios, and distinct use cases.

  • User Research & Human Factors: Support comprehensive user research workflows, including user interviews, formalized usability testing, and task analysis. Translate qualitative and quantitative insights into user-centered design solutions.

  • Stakeholder Presentation: Articulate design solutions and interactive mockups to project stakeholders, effectively communicating the strategic value, research data, and evidence-based rationale behind design decisions.

  • Compliance & Security: Execute all operations in strict alignment with project timelines and product roadmaps. Read, interpret, and maintain total compliance with the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct, including all physical and digital security practices.

Must Have Skills / Requirements

  • Professional Experience: 3–5+ years of progressive professional experience designing complex, data-heavy digital applications and products.

  • Design & Prototyping Software: Complete technical proficiency in industry-standard design and prototyping applications (such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD).

  • Core UX Methodologies: Solid foundational mastery of information architecture, interaction design principles, and comprehensive end-to-end user-centered design processes.

  • Problem-Solving & Communication: Strong technical problem-solving capabilities alongside the communication skills required to present complex design theories to diverse internal and external audiences.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • Instructional Design: Strong secondary skills or experience in instructional design and educational layout frameworks.

  • Regulated Industry Experience: Prior background operating within highly regulated or safety-critical industries, such as medical devices, healthcare, or life sciences, where usability risk mitigation and strict compliance are mandatory.

  • Medical Device Frameworks: Direct exposure to FDA-regulated products, Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), clinical workflows, human factors engineering, or IEC 62366 usability engineering standards.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Experience: 3–5+ years of dedicated UI/UX design experience supported by a strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end user-centered design processes.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Computer Science, or a closely related technical discipline is preferred.
