Job Description
- Conduct quantitative UX research to evaluate audio and hearing-related experiences for Reality Labs AR products and smart glasses.
- Design and execute lab-based experiments, perceptual evaluations, surveys, and statistical analyses to influence product development.
- Partner closely with engineers, researchers, and cross-functional stakeholders to develop and refine audio features and prototypes.
- Translate complex research findings into actionable UX recommendations that directly impact product decisions.
- Support an ongoing evaluation program by designing research protocols, defining perceptual metrics, and measuring user experience improvements.
- 2+ years conducting applied UX research on consumer products using primarily quantitative methods.
- Strong background in experimental design, inferential statistics, and data visualization.
- Experience conducting lab-based perceptual or behavioral studies in an audio-related field (hearing science, spatial audio, audio quality, etc.).
- Experience creating custom research metrics or evaluation frameworks for user experience or perceptual quality.
- Working knowledge of qualitative research methods (interviews, usability testing).
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (minimum 1 year).
- MS degree in Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Neuropsychology, Perceptual Psychology, Speech & Hearing Sciences, or a related UX field.
- Proficiency with standardized audio/perceptual evaluation methodologies (MUSHRA, paired comparisons, adaptive staircase procedures).
- PhD in a related field.
- Experience with psychophysical/psychoacoustic research methods.
- Programming experience using Python, R, or MATLAB for research workflows and metric development.
- Experience researching hearing technologies, audiology, speech communication, or consumer audio devices (headphones, smart glasses, HMDs, speakers).
