Varsity Girls Basketball Program Director

St. Luke’s School is searching for a Varsity Girls Basketball Program Director for the 2026-27 season.

St. Luke’s is a co-ed, secular (non-religious) day school of more than 600 students located in New Canaan, CT. The school competes locally in the Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA), and regionally in the New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC).

 Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Run all program elements including pre-season practices, tryouts, regular season practices, and coaching all home and away games through post-season play. 
• Represent the school and program at all league and conference meetings.
• Coaches and instructs players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Develop game strategy.
• Work with the College Counseling Department to cultivate relationships with and represent our school and program with college coaches. 
• Passion for working with and inspiring female student-athletes.
• Work with the Admissions Department to represent the school and program to prospective student-athletes.
• Utilize social media appropriately to highlight St. Luke’s basketball program.
• Follows established procedures for the proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
• Manage coaching staff to enforce policy and appropriate team culture. 
• Communicate plans for practices and contests with student-athletes, families and coaches.
• Work with our athletic training staff to ensure the health and safety of all student-athletes at all times.
• Manage Hudl and share game film with student athletes, as a recruiting tool. 

• Assesses player’s skills and assigns positions.
• Work with strength coach to ensure proper supervision and appropriate goals for strength and conditioning development. 

• Manage team manager duties and communicate effectively with involved students. 
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

• Strong communicator with students, parents, alumni, and administration.
• Desire and ability to help grow and cultivate the program into one of the region’s best.
• Passion for the sport of basketball and for developing, leading, mentoring, and inspiring student-athletes.
• Experience with the college recruitment process, and strong ties to college coaches.
• Proper working knowledge and experience within the sport of basketball.
