Vermont Rural Learning Collective Program Director

BASIC FUNCTION

To design, support, administer the AmeriCorps program grant.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Grant Management:

  • Develop and carry out program goals of the AmeriCorps grant to meet the needs of educational nonprofits in rural Vermont according to AmeriCorps priority areas.
  • Serve as lead role in writing grant applications for refunding of the program or othernrelated projects.
  • Oversee program, host site, and member data collection towards federal performance measures, and submit Mid and End of Year Progress Reports.
  • Submit Slot Conversion Requests as needed.

Budget and Financial:

  • Oversee and manage the AmeriCorps program budget including: establish budget, monitor and track expenditures, develop and submit regular reports to the college and federal agencies as required, and respond to audits as requested.
  • Request, compile, and report on Grantee Cash match and In-Kind. Complete Budget Modification Requests as needed.

Host Site Management:

  • Monitoring and training for VRLC host sites; Maintain working relationships with Host Site Supervisors and respond to new prospective sites.
  • Administer Sponsorship Application and Slot Commitment process including selecting sites and disbursing MSY/members.
  • Lead Annual Site Supervisor Orientation and meetings.

Member Management:

  • Provide pre-enrollment Orientation for members. Enrollment in Egrants grant management system; Monitoring throughout service (e.g. conducting site visits, administering evaluations); Exit process (e.g. conducting exit interviews, collecting portfolios).
  • Oversee Background checks compliance as per NSCHC requirements with support of Program Coordinator.
  • Design and implement AmeriCorps trainings and events for member and site supervisors in conjunction with the Program Coordinator and other AmeriCorps program staff.
  • Provide support for members in areas such as: accessing AmeriCorps healthcare, conflict resolution, mentoring, and life after AmeriCorps. Work with alumni.

Represent VRLC Program:

  • Represent VRLC at VSC meetings, committees, workgroups, and initiatives.
  • Represent VRLC at monthly SerVermont Commission Program Director meetings, and annual regional and national AmeriCorps/CNCS conferences.

Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISON RECEIVED

General supervision is received from AVP of Academic Support and Educational Opportunity Programs.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

This position supervises the Program Coordinator of VRLC VRLC.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, human services, or related field, master's degree strongly preferred, plus three to four years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Federal grant writing and budget management experience.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite products, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Prior participation in a national service program preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required - position involves in-state travel and occasional attendance at national conferences and training events.

Compensation: The budgeted compensation for this position is $45,000-$52,000.
