Job Description

Lead a thriving, community-based veterinary hospital as Practice Manager in Pagosa Springs, CO, with compensation up to $130,000. Shape patient care, client service, and operations while advancing your leadership career in a well-resourced, team-centered setting.The HospitalThis full-service, mixed-animal clinic serves dogs, cats, large animals, and select exotics in a supportive, client-focused environment. The team includes veterinarians, veterinary technicians and assistants, client service professionals, and grooming staff who work collaboratively to deliver quality care. Facilities include an in-house laboratory, diagnostic imaging, a surgery suite, a dental suite, pharmacy services, and boarding and grooming, with access to laser therapy options. Clinical operations run primarily during daytime weekday hours, offering predictable scheduling for the medical team and a stable platform for strong practice management. The hospital enjoys a positive local reputation and long-standing community relationships, supported by efficient systems and established workflows.LocationSet beside the San Juan River and surrounded by the San Juan National Forest, Pagosa Springs blends small-town warmth with big outdoor access.- World-famous hot springs and wellness culture anchored by a deep geothermal spring- Quick drive to Wolf Creek Ski Area for reliable snow and winter sports- Endless recreation: hiking, rafting, fishing, mountain biking, and scenic alpine drives- Active community calendar with hot air balloon rallies, ColorFest, arts events, and WinterFest- About an hour to Durango and the regional airport for convenient travel- Close-knit community with local schools, a medical center, and a welcoming downtownBenefits- Competitive compensation with performance bonuses- 401(k) with employer match- Health, dental, vision, and life insurance- Mental health resources and employee assistance support- Generous paid time off and paid holidays- Student loan assistance- Tailored development programs, mentorship, and career pathing- Continuing education and leadership training opportunities- A collaborative, inclusive culture where contributions are recognizedThe Role- Lead daily hospital operations and serve as the go-to partner for veterinarians and staff- Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and coach team members; drive engagement and accountability- Build efficient staff schedules aligned to patient demand and labor targets- Oversee budgeting, P&L, financial analysis, billing accuracy, accounts receivable, and expense control- Elevate client experience through service standards, communication quality, and review management- Manage inventory, vendor relationships, facilities, and equipment maintenance- Implement and refine SOPs, KPIs, and workflow improvements to optimize efficiency and patient care- Direct marketing efforts, including social media and website content; coordinate community events and partnerships- Ensure compliance with OSHA and workplace safety, medical record accuracy and confidentiality, and proper handling and disposal protocols- Champion technology adoption, reporting, and staff proficiency; liaise with IT support as needed- Full-time position; primarily weekdays with flexibility for occasional evenings or weekends based on practice needsRequirements- 3-5 years of management experience, ideally in veterinary or healthcare operations- Demonstrated success with P&L oversight, budgeting, and financial analysis- Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and change-management skills- HR experience including hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, and basic employment-law awareness- Proficiency with practice management software and spreadsheets; data-driven decision making- License to practice in Colorado, if professionally licensed (e.g., DVM or CVT); this leadership role itself does not require DVM licensure- Eligibility to work in the United States- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and perform occasional light physical tasksApplyReady to lead a respected veterinary team in a spectacular mountain town?
