COMPANY OVERVIEW:
The Animal Dental Center (ADC) is a dental / oral-surgical specialty practice with multiple clinic locations in Towson, Annapolis, Columbia, and York, PA. For over 30 years, the mission at the Animal Dental Center has been to provide our patients with exceptional oral care by building a trusting partnership with pet owners in a warm and caring environment. Our practice strongly focuses on client education and community outreach programs to promote pet oral health awareness and hopefully nurture a longer and healthier quality of life for our four-legged loved ones.
POSITION SUMMARY:A Veterinary Assistant in a surgical and dental center supports veterinarians and technicians by assisting with animal care, surgery prep, dental procedures, and clinic operations. The role focuses on maintaining a safe, clean environment and ensuring high-quality care before, during, and after procedures.SCHEDULE:Tuesday - Friday (Daytime schedule, typically 6:45 am-5:30 pm)BENEFITS:
- Compensation is based on experience and skill level. Ranging between $18-19/hr and is open for discussion with our hiring manager.

- Work with our team of five (5) Board-Certified (AVDC) doctors and (5) residents with more than 40 cumulative years of professional experience in Veterinary Dentistry / Oral Surgery.
- Grow within a highly progressive learning environment using state-of-the-art equipment such as CBCT imaging and advanced dental techniques.
Key Responsibilities:Surgical & Dental Support
- Prepare operating rooms before procedures (set up instruments, equipment, etc.)
- Assist veterinarians and technicians during surgeries
- Handle and restrain animals safely for exams, anesthesia, and procedures
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical/dental instruments and packs
- Help with blood draws, IV catheter placement, and lab sample collections
- Animal Care
- Assist vet techs and veterinarians in monitoring animals before, during, and after surgery (vitals, recovery)
- Safely walk dogs
- Clean cages/kennels
- Restraining while techs administer medications
- Record patient histories, weights, and vital signs on surgical forms/ electronic records
Cleaning & Sterilization
- Maintain strict cleanliness of surgical dental areas, kennel room, and lab area
- Disinfect equipment and ensure infection control protocols
- Prepare and autoclave surgical instruments
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 6-months Kennel work or previous Veterinary Assisting Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Speaking directly with clients and other hospital team members, excellent communication skills is valuable and important
- Ability to work in a team environment by taking direction and assisting other medical team members
- Exemplifies a strong work ethic, with a positive attitude
- Able to multitask and work under pressure
- Flexibility and able to adapt to new situations
- Maintain a constant level of honesty and integrity
- Ability to lift, push, and pull above 50lbs
Work Environment
- Fast-paced surgical or specialty veterinary clinic
- Exposure to anesthesia, surgery, and dental procedures
- Requires standing for long periods and handling dogs and cats of various size
