Veterinary Technician, Overnight (CVT/LVT/RVT Required) | $20–$35/hr + $1,000 Sign-On Bonus | Full-Time Benefits | Overnight, Three 12-hour shifts | Portsmouth, NH
Join Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital as an Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician and take the next step in your veterinary career. We’re seeking a skilled, compassionate Veterinary Technician to support our ER/ICU team in delivering exceptional care to hospitalized and emergency patients in a fast-paced specialty environment.Whether you’re experienced in emergency medicine or looking to continue building advanced technical skills, this is an opportunity to work alongside a collaborative team while making a meaningful impact every shift. Students currently enrolled in an accredited veterinary technology program are encouraged to apply.Compensation
- $20–$35 per hour, based on experience, skills, and credentials
- $1,000 Sign-On Bonus paid after 90 days of employment
- $5/hour shift differential for hours worked between 12:00am–7:00am
- Overnights
- Three 12-hour shifts, including one weekend shift, with two holidays per year.
- All team members participate in the on-call rotation as needed.

- Deliver exceptional nursing care to emergency, critical care, hospitalized, and specialty patients including surgical, internal medicine, oncology, ophthalmology, and urgent care cases
- Triage incoming emergency patients and assess patient status quickly and efficiently
- Place IV catheters, administer medications and fluids, and perform accurate dosage calculations
- Assist with patient stabilization and support life-saving procedures, including CPR
- Collect diagnostic samples and assist with imaging and patient monitoring
- Induce and monitor anesthesia and sedation for emergency and specialty procedures
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records
- Monitor patient vitals, identify changes in condition, and communicate findings promptly to the attending veterinarian
- Educate clients at discharge regarding medications, home-care instructions, and follow-up recommendations with empathy and clarity
- Support a collaborative, team-focused hospital environment while contributing to daily workflow and patient care priorities
- CVT / LVT / RVT or VTNE Eligible required
- 1+ years of experience in a small animal hospital setting preferred
- Emergency or critical care experience is a plus
- Strong technical skills including patient restraint, venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, and nursing care
- Ability to prioritize and thrive in a fast-paced emergency veterinary environment
- Strong communication skills with both clients and team members
- Positive, dependable, and collaborative approach to patient care and teamwork
- Eagerness to continue learning and growing professionally
- Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
