We are seeking a senior Veterinary Nurse to join our dynamic team, bringing strong surgical nursing expertise, exceptional patient care skills, and the ability to manage reception duties when required. Role Overview:

As a senior Veterinary Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering a range of nursing services, from assisting in surgeries to providing patient and client care. You will need strong surgical nursing skills, with a focus on anesthesia, monitoring during procedures, and post-operative care.

The role also requires the ability to manage reception tasks, including client interaction, scheduling appointments, and processing payments. You will work closely with the rest of our team, providing leadership and mentorship to junior nurses and support staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Surgical Nursing: Assist in all aspects of surgical preparation, anesthesia and post-operative monitoring. Ensure patient safety and provide exceptional care during the recovery process.

  • Patient Care: Monitor hospitalised patients, administer medications, and provide routine medical treatments. Maintain accurate records of patient progress and assist with diagnostic procedures when needed.

  • Reception Duties: Greet and assist clients, handle appointment bookings, process payments, and address client inquiries. Provide clear, compassionate communication regarding patient care and treatment plans.

  • Team Leadership: Mentor junior staff, guide them in their clinical roles, and foster a positive, cooperative team dynamic.

  • Workload Management: Prioritise and manage a busy workload, ensuring timely and effective care without compromising patient or client care.

About You:

You are a skilled and experienced veterinary nurse with a minimum of 3 years experience. You have a strong background in surgical nursing, patient care, and reception. You possess the ability to prioritise and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced clinic environment. You thrive in a team setting, displaying autonomy while working toward collective success. Above all, you are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care, maintaining high veterinary standards, and supporting the goals of Vetwest Animal Hospital.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Registered Veterinary Nurse (or equivalent).

  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in veterinary nursing, with expertise in surgical nursing and patient care.

  • Skills: Strong surgical and anesthesia nursing skills, experience in client-facing roles, leadership ability, and excellent communication skills.

  • Attributes: Compassionate, proactive, and capable of handling a busy workload.
