The impact you will make: Agios Pharmaceuticals is searching for a visionary and results-driven Vice President, Information Technology to lead and evolve our IT function during an exciting and pivotal period of growth. This is a rare opportunity to shape the digital backbone of a company dedicated to transforming the lives of patients with rare diseases - where your work connects directly to patient outcomes. The VP, IT will serve as a trusted member of the extended leadership team, responsible for defining and executing a forward-looking technology and data strategy that enables Agios to operate as a fully integrated, independent biopharmaceutical company. You will champion innovation - including the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence and advanced analytics - while building a high-performing team and ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of our technology infrastructure. This role calls for a leader who thinks like a business executive, acts with technological conviction, and leads with purpose and integrity. What you will do: The VP, IT is expected to function as an active executive peer - partnering closely with Senior Leadership and Compliance to ensure technology and data strategy are fully integrated with Agios' business priorities. This role requires building trusted relationships across the Leadership Team, not simply responding to IT requests. Technology Strategy & Leadership Proactively identify opportunities to leverage information technologies to improve productivity and business performance Lead and manage an IT team of internal staff and external service providers; establish clear guidelines, roles, and service levels to ensure seamless collaboration Chair the Information Technology Steering Committee (ITSC); oversee the IT portfolio, drive prioritization, and ensure successful delivery of key initiatives Drive the development and deployment of new capabilities across R&D, Commercial, and G&A functions Serve as a thought leader in applying innovative technologies to accelerate clinical development and optimize regulatory and pharmacovigilance processes Personal Attributes A strategic thinker and "player-coach": equally comfortable setting vision and rolling up their sleeves to execute AI-fluent and AI-curious: genuine hands-on engagement with AI tools and a passion for applying them thoughtfully Ability to bridge communication between scientific and non-scientific stakeholders Transparent and decisive: communicates trade-offs clearly and holds firm on priorities under pressure A natural collaborator viewed as a thought partner by Senior Leadership, not just an IT service provider High personal integrity with a deep commitment to respect, inclusion, and diversity "Can-do" mindset with a willingness to embrace calculated risk-taking and bold thinking What you bring: 15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a VP or equivalent senior leadership role, ideally within a biopharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences environment Proven track record of defining and executing IT and digital strategies that deliver measurable business value in a regulated environment Expertise with the emerging technologies including AI and Large Language Models Deep understanding of pharmaceutical drug development, clinical operations, and regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA, GxP, 21 CFR Part 11) Demonstrated experience leading enterprise technology transformation programs, including cloud, SaaS, ERP, and data platform modernization Hands-on experience with AI and automation technologies - generative AI tools, workflow automation, and analytics platforms; applied knowledge, not just conceptual awareness Strong financial acumen with experience managing multi-million dollar IT budgets Track record of building productive Senior Leadership partnerships and influencing enterprise strategy as a trusted peer Concerned that you don't check off every box in the requirements listed above? Hybrid schedules vary but are generally less than 3 days per week onsite. Regular conversations with manager are encouraged to ensure alignment on in-person presence/expectations. Employees in this role are expected to live within a commutable distance to the office and some travel may be required commensurate to the above job description and/or to attend team meetings and other company events. This includes base salary and both short- and long-term incentives that are connected to our business strategy and vary based on individual and company performance. The current base salary range for this position is expected to be between $257,882 and $429,803 annualized; final salary will be determined based on various factors including, but not limited to, years of relevant experience, job knowledge, skills and proficiency, degree/education, and internal comparators.
