About the Company
We are recruiting for a high growth, dedicated direct lender, focused on small businesses across the country. Our client has a ten-year history and is passionate about empowering and partnering with businesses in their growth journey. In addition to providing fast, flexible financing, our client offers a complete payment processing solution to make the funding process easier and more supportive than ever before. The mission of our client is to refine, enhance, and unify financial products, delivering better solutions for businesses to grow.
About the Role
As the VP of Business Development, you will lead the efforts in driving growth and forging strategic partnerships. This leadership role will focus on generating loans, cultivating relationships with key referral partners and direct connections with high-quality business borrowers. The VP will report to the Chief Revenue Officer and play a critical role in shaping revenue strategy and driving continued success in the alternative lending industry. This role is based on-site in New Yor City, with travel to meet prospects and partners, as necessary.

What You'll Do

    • Strategic Partnerships: Source and establish partnerships with banks, brokers, private equity funds, trade associations, financial advisors, and other referral sources to build a pipeline of commercial loan loads.
    • Borrower Relationships: Oversee the firm’s efforts to build and manage a robust pipeline of direct business borrowers through outbound strategies, personal relationship building, and industry engagement.
    • Strategic Growth: Working with the CRO, develop and execute a complete business development strategy to scale loan origination and maximize revenues.
    • Internal Collaboration: Work with internal teams to create co-marketing initiatives and tools to enhance lead flow and overall efficiencies.
    • Team Leadership: Lead and collaborate with the business development team to meet goals. Partner with the marketing and underwriting teams to ensure seamless execution.
    • Industry: Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, competitor offerings and regulatory changes in alternative lending to stay competitive.
    • Travel: Travel as necessary to meet key prospects, partners, and stakeholders to strengthen relationships and secure opportunities.

What We’re Looking For

    • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in business development, partnerships, or sales leadership, with a proven record of success in fintech, commercial lending, or financial services.
    • Demonstrated ability to generate revenue quickly through an established network, with a track record of accelerating partner-driven origination pipelines.
    • Existing Rolodex of active referral sources, strategic partners, brokers, or intermediaries within the SMB lending, term loan, or cash flow-based financing ecosystem is strongly preferred.
    • Experience leading business development efforts, building strategic partnerships, and scaling loan origination pipelines from both new and existing relationships.
    • Deep understanding of term loans and cash flow-based financing structures.
    • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to activate trusted relationships immediately and drive near-term results.
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute revenue strategies aligned with company growth goals, while also delivering rapid early wins.
    • Proficiency with CRM tools (Salesforce) and sales enablement platforms.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment with minimal ramp-up or onboarding.
    • Willingness to travel as needed to meet with partners and prospects.
$90,000 - $110,000 a year
In addition to base salary, compensation will include commissions on loans generated, quality of loans, pipelining growth, strategic partnership growth, and other factors.
